Latin America's Top Fitness Apps on Android: Q1 2021 Performance

The first quarter of 2021 has been eventful for fitness and weight loss apps in Latin America. Data from Sensor Tower provides insights into the performance of the top applications in this category on the Android platform. Here's a snapshot of how these apps fared in terms of downloads, revenue, and weekly active users.

Strava: Run, Bike, Hike maintained a steady increase in revenue, ending the quarter with $25K, up from $23K at the start of the year. Downloads peaked at nearly 100K in early January, followed by a gradual decline to 94K by the end of March. Weekly active users saw a slight dip in February but rebounded to 1.3M by the close of the quarter.

Freeletics: Fitness Workouts witnessed a surge in revenue at the beginning of January to $30K, before experiencing a downward trend, stabilizing at around $16K by March's end. Downloads hit a high of 100K in the first week of January but saw a significant decrease to 23K towards the quarter's end. The app’s active users mirrored this trend, with a high of 286K in early January, dropping to 178K by March 29.

Workout Planner Muscle Booster also saw fluctuations in revenue, starting at $11K and rising to $18K in the first week of January, then falling to $10K by March. The app enjoyed high download numbers in early January at 132K, but this decreased to 95K by the quarter's end. Weekly active users declined from 387K at the beginning of the period to 241K.

Weight Loss Walking: WalkFit had a mixed quarter with revenue starting at $8K, peaking at $16K in late January, and then settling at around $10K by March end. Download numbers were impressive at the start with 175K in mid-January, but they fluctuated and ended at 105K. Active users peaked at 535K, later balancing out to 214K towards the close of Q1.

Home Fitness Coach: FitCoach showed a revenue increase from $11K to $13K in early January, followed by a decline to $9.6K. Downloads saw a significant rise to 137K at the start of February but then decreased to 48K. Weekly active users experienced a peak at 318K in early February before descending to 127K by the quarter's end.
